Booking an appointment is the first step to a healthier and stronger you! By committing to working with me, you are investing in yourself, in your future, and in your overall wellbeing. Together, we will work towards:
My name is Kimberly Knelsen. I am the mother of three beautiful children and have a passion for helping women learn more about themselves, their bodies, and what they can do to properly recover after having a baby.
I always loved being active and going to the gym and training. However, after my third baby, I became crippled with back pain. No matter how careful I was at the gym, or what exercises I did, it didn’t take much and my back would flair up, forcing me to rest on the couch for days or weeks until it calmed down. In my frustration, I started doing research and realized I had a separation in my abdominals that was a major contributor to my back pain. Through this research, I developed a passion for learning about common “mom” issues and the science behind healing and preventing these problems. After this, I studied to become a Personal Trainer and then continued studying to be a Pre and Post Natal Corrective Exercise Specialist.
My mission is to help as many mothers as I can. Common issues like diastasis, prolapse, leaking, pain with sex, back pain, SI or SPD pain, the “mom pooch” – There are so many issues that have been deemed “normal” for moms… and they don’t need to be that way!
“What can I expect when I book an appointment?”
During the first appointment, we will discuss your pains, issues, and goals. I will ask questions about your history and perform various assessments on you. After we have established a baseline, we will create an action plan for reaching your goals. I will teach you exercises that are specifically geared towards your situation and then equip you to practice them at home. During your next appointment , we will re-evaluate how things are going and add additional exercises to keep you progressing.
“How quickly can I expect results?
Every person and every body is different. There are many different factors that contribute to someone seeing results (I encourage you to focus more on “feeling” results than “seeing” results!). In saying that, people report feeling stronger and seeing changes in their shape, usually around 4-6 weeks. Keep in mind, this is not a quick fix. This is not a fad. These are scientifically backed exercises that are proven to transform your muscles. And as we change muscle we change our shape.
Will my benefits cover the costs of working with you?
As of now, your benefits will only cover your costs with Kore Korrection if you have a spending account that you can use towards a Personal Trainer.
Can I meet with you when I am pregnant?
I recommend that you first consult with your doctor to ensure that you are cleared for exercise. However, assuming you have been cleared for physical activity, absolutely! I would customize your plan to fit your current condition. We could work through common pregnancy pains, strengthen your body for your delivery and help prepare you for your recovery – aiming to make it smoother and quicker.
What if I am not pregnant and my last child was born decades ago?
My philosophy is: “Once Postpartum, Always Postpartum”. In most cases, if someone doesn’t take the time to rehabilitate their body after they are pregnant, they will develop compensation patterns instead. These compensations can lead to a whole host of issues if they are not deliberately dealt with. These compensations must be corrected to prevent further aches, pains, or injury. It is never too late to invest in your body and help it function optimally.
